Brewery Arts Center presents living history program, The Reno Cure

The Brewery Arts Center in Carson Will will present a living history program, “The Reno Cure,” in their ballroom on Tuesday, August 27 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Reno has long been known as “The Biggest Little City in the World,” but it wasn’t just the introduction of legalized gambling in 1931 that brought the town its fame and notoriety.

For the first half of the 20th century, hundreds of thousands of people went to the Truckee River town, to get a “quickie” dissolution to their marriage, and created a culture and lifestyle, unlike any other.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - "Rockin at the Fillmore with Bill Graham" is heading to the South Lake Tahoe Library on August 27 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Learn about the legendary impresario at the heart of San Francisco’s 'Summer of Love' music scene.

Rock Promoter Bill Graham was crucial to establishing San Francisco as the epicenter for the psychedelic rock music sounds of Jefferson Airplane, the Grateful Dead, Big Brother and the Holding Company with Janis Joplin and many others.

Fall Into Conservation Gardening Workshop

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - With cooler mornings signaling the arrival of fall, it’s time to start thinking about preparing your garden for the colder months. Attend a free workshop to learn how to shut down your irrigation system and get your garden winter-ready.

The South Tahoe Public Utility and Lake Tahoe Master Gardeners are hosting the third gardening workshop, Fall into Conservation, on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at 1275 Meadow Crest Drive. The workshop will also be accessible virtually at stpud.us. Admission is free and no registration is required.

The fall workshop hosted by South Tahoe Public Utilities and the UCCE Master Gardeners of Lake Tahoe on August 27 and will focus on preparing your garden for winter and learning to shut down your irrigation system. They will also discuss adding plants to your garden that shine during the autumn season.

This lively festival, presented by the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority in partnership with the Tahoe Improvement District, promises a weekend packed with fun, entertainment, and activities for the whole family. Admission is free though there is a charge for carnival rides and games. The activities start at 5 p.m. on Friday, 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
