Become a UC Master Gardener of Lake Tahoe

The University of California invites Tahoe-based adults interested in teaching others sustainable gardening to become a Master Gardener volunteer. You will learn University-based scientific information and then share that knowledge with others. UC Master Gardener volunteers are people of all ages and from all walks of life with a common desire to help others learn about gardening.

The 2020 Master Gardener of Lake Tahoe training program will be fun and informative with a hands-on atmosphere. We will emphasize applied activities where trainees will quickly become comfortable with subject material. Sessions will include a small portion of at home videos coupled with classroom practical application of horticultural practices. The goal will be that you leave the classroom knowing how to implement sustainable gardening practices and how to teach them. New Master Gardeners will be trained for a total of 50 hours (36 in the classroom and 14 at home). We think this new blended training system is best suited for our seasonal Tahoe environment and culture. We hope you do too! Applications are due by February 28.
