Letter: No on Measure M because of VHR and GPS road issues

NO on Measure M. The Department of Transportation (DOT) has repeatedly told us they are willing to engage us with our GPS and to a lesser degree the VHR's. They told me to my face at the wed meeting that have contacted us and were working with us. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Rafael has never, ever, contacted me once in the past four years to have a meeting even after I have repeatedly contacted him and his staff. They, and Sue (Novasel), have ignored others in our community who are working on the GPS and VHR problems. Most of the time she has just walked out on others. Even after we had a meeting set up with the CAO, Mr. Ashton, that was cancelled did he contact me or anyone else. I sent them over 2661 signatures from residents requesting he and our supervisor sit down with us to work on our GPS problem.

Now they want money from us and are asking our help?

I for one do not think so. Even at the Measure M meeting at Mr. Celio's home I was told that they would be willing to sit down and discuss this the following week, never happened. Help us with our problems and we will help you with yours.

The first thing Sue stated at the meeting on Feb 12 was she did not want to talk about TOT. The first and most of the questions that came up were about TOT and why can't we use that money. It is ours. In the city the TOT money, 100 percent, stays in the city for services. In the county it is a slush fund for the BOS. This has got to stop. I know the county DOT needs new equipment and I would love to help them find the money to get that equipment.

I can only speak for myself, but to be ignored for 4 years and then asked for help with their problem is disenchanting. To the employees and management of our DOT. This is not an affront on you. You have always provided excellent service and do not take it personal. If your director and BOS would have helped us with our problems we would help you with yours. I can only hope there are enough of us long time residents left to help you. Many are leaving due to the frustration of the GPS Apps and VHR problems.
