The South Lake Tahoe Children’s Book Drive a group project through the Leadership Lake Tahoe Program will be commencing on March 1st and continuing through April 1st 2012.
The book drive is being conducted in conjunction with the National Library Week and National School Library Month.

The purpose of the book drive is to collect new and slightly used children’s books to help promote reading for children by putting books into the hands of youth from birth to 16 who reside on the south shore of Lake Tahoe (Douglas, Carson, and El Dorado Counties).

Books will be collected at the following drop off locations; The Women’s Center, El Dorado County Library, Choices for Children, El Dorado County Superior Court, Tahoe Turning Point, TRPA, Heavenly Mountain Resort HR Department, Round Hill General Improvement District, Kahle Community Center, and Barton Memorial Hospital. Book collection boxes are already in place and will remain at these locations throughout the month of March.

All books collected will be distributed to children in the South Lake Tahoe area who are in need. Distribution events to put the books in the hands of local children, will done in April with the assistance of partner agencies such as Kahle Community Center, Lake Tahoe Unified School District, and Choices for Children.
