Crook & The Bluff brings the desert to Tahoe

Event Date:
July 16, 2016 - 10:00pm

Hailing from the high desert of Utah, psychedelic rockers, Crook & The Bluff, are embarking on a tour through the Pacific Northwest. Their powerful stage presence can be witnessed in South Lake Tahoe on Saturday, July 16 at Himmel Haus. Equipped with an arsenal of songs depicting lust, love, murder, and malevolence, Crook & The Bluff is known for their dynamic performances, commanding persona, and moody aura. Combining psychedelic, western, and blues elements, Crook & The Bluff creates a unique musical landscape that is influenced by the vast, desolate wilderness of their desert home.

The band has been gathering steam at home, having been nominated for the Best of Utah Music Awards, opened for Murder By Death, Wovenhand, and Jamestown Revival, and headlined hometown festival Craft Lake City three years running. Now the Pacific Northwest will experience the impressive vocals of Kirk Dath, known for his booming baritone and piercing falsetto, supported by the sultry harmonies and thunderous drumming of Sarah DeGraw. Add to this the delicacy of a two-man surgical team; Kevin Schultz administering a heavy dose of fuzz-bass, and Ryan Arnold cutting to the bone with carefully honed, moaning lead guitar.

Crook & The Bluff’s 10:00 p.m. performance on Saturday, July 16th at Himmel Haus in South Lake Tahoe is part of a 14 city tour which includes the following dates:

Crook & The Bluff’s performances are high-energy and fever-inducing, as relentless and unforgiving as the desert itself. When the music slows down, it becomes eerie and beautifully calm, seducing the audience into a deep trance, only to be awakened by a burst of smoke or the howl of a wolf. Crook & The Bluff must be experienced live!

“[Crook & The Bluff] is soulful and sooty, like iron-encrusted boots kicked around in the sand until they’re tattered but still barely intact, elation and agony both held in the shreds. Purist blues and squealing harmonica—mixed with slithering, vintage rock n’ roll—sounds like Timothy Leary in the Wild West.”
