Graphic Novelist Inks the Walls of Bona Fide Books

Event Date:
August 1, 2012 - 6:30pm

On Wed. Aug. 1, Bona Fide Books will host a reception for graphic novelist and artist Jared Manninen and his collection "Based on a Dream" at Bona Fide HQ in Meyers from 6:30-8:30 pm. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments and entertainment will be provided.

Jared lives in South Lake Tahoe, the beauty of which influences his work both in graphic novels and on canvas. Jared began his art career in 1997 by painting with oils on canvas. Since then, he’s worked with other two-dimensional media such as pastels, watercolors and acrylics. He recently collaborated with Bona Fide Books to create a zine for the Meyers Community Project. A zine workshop will be offered at the reception.

“Based on a Dream” is a collection of black and white images created through use of pen/brush and ink. “On a deeper level, the black and white work is indicative of how I’m trying to live my life . . . refined and more precise.”

Jared’s work will be on display at Bona Fide Books through the month of August. Bona Fide HQ is located at 1069 Magua Street, #4, behind the Getaway Café in Meyers.
