Youth Lacrosse Clinic Coming this August 29th to the Capitol Region

Event Date:
August 29, 2020 - 9:00am

Through a partnership between Carson Capitols Lacrosse and the High Sierra Lacrosse League, a youth clinic will be held on August 29, 9 a.m. at the John L. Harvey Field at Western Nevada College.

Lacrosse is a popular sport worldwide, but there are no opportunities in Carson City. This partnership aims to change that, offering a one-day clinic to introduce the sport and educate all local youth, ages 6-12. Held at the John L. Harvey field at Western Nevada College, the event is open to both boys and girls and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. The event is free, but all athletes must be registered to attend and is limited to the first 50 registrants.

High Sierra Lacrosse League will be furnishing all the equipment necessary for the clinic, including experienced coaches for the youth athletes. In addition, the High Sierra Lacrosse Foundation has generously provided a grant to allow the 50 registered participants a free lacrosse stick ($70 value) and free one year membership to US Lacrosse ($30 value), which includes 6 issues of US Lacrosse magazine among many other benefits! Additionally, each participant will receive a 20% discount for the High Sierra Lacrosse Fall Practice League in South Reno, so this truly is a valuable opportunity for your young athlete.

Online registrations are available on the High Sierra League website here and are currently open until all the spots are filled.

The clinic will start at 9 a.m. sharp on August 29, 2020 at John L. Harvey Field, located at Western Nevada College, 2201 West College Parkway, Carson City and will last approximately 90 minutes. Athletes should be there at 8:30 to complete the check in process. During the clinic, athletes will be introduced to the game and begin learning a variety of skills such as ground balls/scooping, catching, passing, shooting, and more! All athletes should be prepared with comfortable athletic attire, athletic shoes (no cleats necessary), and their own water.

Due to the current concerns and considerations for COVID-19, there can be no spectators at the event. All appropriate guidelines are being complied within order to help keep the coaches, parents, athletes, and the public safe and healthy. The participant’s parent/guardian must sign a waiver to allow instruction available online.
