Free “Aging and Caregiver” educational series in South Lake Tahoe

The El Dorado County Health and Human Services Agency, Family Caregiver Support Program is presenting a five-week long "Aging & Caregiver" educational series in South Lake Tahoe starting October 8.

The free series will be at the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.on Mondays through November 5.

The five-week educational series will be held on Mondays beginning October 8, 2018, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel, 4130 Lake Tahoe Blvd, South Lake Tahoe. The series will provide instruction and support for people who care for or plan to care for a family member or friend aged 60 years or older. The series topics will include the following:

· October 15, 2018 - Living with Alzheimer’s Mid-Stage Caregiving: Learn the symptoms and care associated with the middle stage of Alzheimer’s Disease.

· October 22, 2018 – Medicare HICAP: A presentation on current Medicare programs and issues.

· October 29, 2018 – The Physical Aspects of Caregiving - Medication Safety, Transferring and More: Learn how to safely care for the physical needs of a care recipient.

· November 5, 2018 – El Dorado County Senior Legal Services Program: An informative discussion about Asset Protection Strategy, Estate Planning, Trusts and more.

The educational series will be presented by local experts in their respected fields. Participants may attend one or all of the classes. The classes are provided free of charge, although donations are gratefully accepted. Light refreshments will be served. The series is offered as an educational opportunity only; no solicitation of services will be presented.
