South Lake Tahoe Sheriff's Team of Active Retirees Chooses New Station Leader

El Dorado Co. Sheriff's Department in South Lake Tahoe sponsors and supports activities of Sheriff's Team of Active Retirees. In a recent election held during the S.T.A.R. Station Meeting at South Lake Tahoe's Senior Center,
retiring 3 year term Station Leader Dick Young was replaced by Richard Thomson of Thomson's Insurance. Assisting Thomson are past Station Leaders Dick Young and George Schultz.

Other members, each holding specific job titles include Barbara Aragon, Jan and Ernie Claudio, Susan Kidwell, Mary Magana, Bill Sluka, Kay Taylor and Joan Young.

Kay Taylor is Special Events Coordinator. Special Events include annual participation at Lake of the Sky Air Show in September, staffing a booth during Halloween's Treat Street, asssisting at the Drug Store Project each Spring, Every 15 Minutes, and graduation at South Tahoe High School and other community events.

STAR volunteers also provide support during Search and Rescue operations.

Routinely members patrol neighborhoods, the library, small businesses, trail heads and beaches, ski resort parking lots, and remote cabin tracts. Additional members are needed to help enhance STAR membership and assist in these activities. Ride-alongs are welcome.
