Tahoe Grizzlies Pee Wee "A Team" advances to International Silver Stick Hockey Tournament

For the second consecutive year, the Tahoe Grizzlies Pee Wee team are headed to the International Finals after bringing home a championship win from the Silver Stick Regional Tournament in San Jose, Calif.

“I’m extremely proud of this team,” said Grizzlies coach Mike Gunderson. “They’ve worked hard to get this point and have really come together as a team, many have been teammates going on two or more years now. Everyone on the team contributed during the tournament and all were represented on score sheet.”

The Grizzlies went undefeated in the November 24-27, 2016 tournament and downed the San Francisco Sabercats 3-2 in the championship game. Their winning goal came with just 12.7 seconds left in the game.

The win on the San Jose Shark's Ice earned them a trip to Port Heron, Michigan January 19-22 for the International Silver Stick Finals.

Team mottoes such as “Grind, Grit, Glory” and “No Mercy” adorned locker room white boards before each game, giving the young players extra motivation for San Jose tournament.

Other Tahoe Grizzlies hockey teams played their hearts out at the tournament, however, did not qualify in their respective divisions to the international tournament.
