South Lake Tahoe's first baby of the year born at Barton Hospital

It didn't take long for the first baby of the year to be born on the South Shore. On January 1 at 3:06 p.m., Jayden Daniel Molina Torres was born to South Lake Tahoe natives Brianda Torres and Daniel Molina. Jayden weighed seven pounds, seven ounces and measured eighteen inches long.

Mom, dad, and Jayden’s six-year-old brother Noe Torres were all born at Barton Hospital. Brianda and Daniel both grew up in South Lake Tahoe, and met through Brianda’s family.

As Noe enthusiastically sang “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” to his new little brother, Jayden continued to sleep. Brianda described the labor as “fast” and that she had a full night’s sleep before she went into Barton Memorial Hospital at 9:00am on January 1. Amanda Weavil, MD, oversaw the delivery at Barton Family Birthing Center.

In honor of the first baby born in the New Year, Barton Health provided a wagon full of gifts for the family. SouthTahoeNow.com joined other local business and Barton employees in donating $1,950 in baby supplies, toys, and gift certificates. The family receives a free month long New Baby ad featuring the Jayden's photo and information.
