Repairs have been completed - Heavenly to reopen gondola on Friday

UPDATE: All repairs have been made, testing is complete and the gondola will re-open for the public on Friday, Jan. 12, weather permitting.

"We are so grateful for the commitment and expertise of our incredible lift maintenance team and cannot thank them enough for the work they have done to make the necessary repairs and get this machine operating again," said a Heavenly spokesperson.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Heavenly Mountain lift maintenance team has installed the new bearings they received from Europe for the gondola, and they are now starting to test it. People will see the gondola spinning during Thursday's tests, and if all goes well, Heavenly plans on having it open and able to transport guests starting on Friday, January 12.

Access to the resort has been limited so the reopening of the gondola has been highly anticipated. It closed on January 4 when a technical issue was discovered. At the time, resort officials said the gondola would be down indefinitely. Since then, parts were sent to Lake Tahoe overnight and maintenance crews were able to work quickly to get all running again.

"Thank you all again for the support and patience as we cross the finish line with the repairs. We are super excited to get the Gondola back online again," said Heavenly on social media.
