New chief for Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District

LAKE TAHOE, Nev. - There has been a change in command at Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District (TDFPD). Chief Gregory "Scott" Baker has retired and passed the department flag to new Chief Scott Lindgren during a small ceremony Wednesday.

The passing of the department flag symbolizing the leadership change. The ceremony also included the pinning of Chief Lindgren whose daughter had the duty.

Baker has been with TDFPD since 2016, joining them after his retirement from Reno Fire where he served over 20 years. Baker also served in the Nevada Air National Guard for over 27 years in various positions - Mission Commander, Detachment Commander, Flight Lead, Safety Investigation Board President, Flight Commander, and Senior Navigator and served a tour in Iraq.

During his guidance, the moniker 'World’s Best Fire Department' inspired the TDFPD members and it has stuck. Now that he is retired, Baker will be spending more time with his daughters in Reno before they graduate. During the ceremony he was presented a proclamation from Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak honoring his years of service to the state.

Chief Scott Lindgren has a robust resume, coming to the department from the Cal Fire Amador-Eldorado Unit where he served as unit chief. Scott has a lot of experience in the Lake Tahoe Basin as has served with the Lake Tahoe Regional Fire Chiefs Association, and has been responsible for dispatch, convict firefighting crews, and the air base at Mather Airport while overseeing the region's fire fighting response for Cal Fire.
