New luxury bus between Lake Tahoe and Bay Area hopes to ease traffic issues

The League to Save Lake Tahoe and the startup transportation service Tahoe Convoy have been working together for over a year to connect the Bay Area and Lake Tahoe with a luxury shuttle.
With heavy weekend traffic in and out of Lake Tahoe, the entrepreneurs looked for a better way to travel, both better for Tahoe locals stuck in traffic jams, and for the visitors who don't have to be behind the wheel, getting frustrated at a standstill.
Tahoe Convoy will launch the luxury shuttle on February 2 after a successful crowdfunding campaign. At first they will only operate from the Bay Area to Truckee, Squaw and the North Shore. Once ridership expands they plan on adding a route to the South Shore.
Tickets are $49 each way with discounts on multi-ticket purchases.
"We think this is a great idea, which is why we pitched in to provide our Tahoe knowledge and environmental expertise," said the League to Save Lake Tahoe in a release.
The shuttle will head eastbound from the Bay Area on Friday night, and returning riders with a westbound route on Sunday night (or Mondays on three-day weekends).
Shuttles feature reclining seats, WiFi and a restroom. Instead of driving, spend your time watching a movie, having a drink, taking a nap or getting work done.
Those riding on Tahoe Convoy will experience a car-free Tahoe, with taxis, ride share, transit and bicycle options one they're at the lake.
The company plans to operate every weekend, all year, with at least two shuttles as they expand their network. During higher ridership weekends, additional shuttles will be dispatched and passengers grouped by destination, creating express service with fewer stops.
