Weekly roundup of COVID-19 around Lake Tahoe. All except El Dorado County are for the week and El Dorado data is from yesterday.

EL DORADO COUNTY

There have been 308 new cases of COVID-19 and no new deaths recorded since yesterday in El Dorado County. This brings the total of COVID-19 cases in the county to 22,640. This does not include all at-home tests that may have been positive.

There are now 141.3 new cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 residents in the county.

To date, 182 El Dorado County residents have died from COVID-19. There were no new deaths recorded today. This count does not include deaths still under investigation.

There are 25 (+6) hospitalized with 8 (+2) in the ICU in El Dorado County. Barton Hospital has 12 hospitalized COVID patients, Marshall Hospital in Placerville has 13. Barton has 4 ICU patiensts, Marshall has 4. There is no tracking of patients transferred from El Dorado County hospitals to regional hospitals, or county residents at other hospitals.

Currently, the State's website says there is 1 available ICU bed in the county, 0 at Barton Health in South Lake Tahoe, 1 at Marshall in Placerville. Bed capacity fluctuates daily based on many factors; therefore, the data posted on the State's site may not be an accurate depiction of the current situation.

DOUGLAS COUNTY

Across the Quad-County area (Carson City, Douglas, Lyon, and Storey Counties), there were 3,369 new COVID-19 cases in the two-week period from January 2 – January 15, 2022. This is a 137% increase from the previously
reported two-week period. The daily cases reported, based on a seven-day average, over this two-week period was 240.

From January 2 to January 15, 2022, there were 915 confirmed cases
reported in Douglas County. This represents approximately twenty-seven of all Quad-County cases during this two-week period. There was a one hundred and sixteen percent increase from the previous two-week period. The zip code in Douglas County that reported the highest number of cases during this two-week period was 89460.

The two zip codes at Lake Tahoe, 89449 and 89448 had 92 and 42 respectively during this period.

There were thirty student case investigations completed from January 2– January 15, 2022. Of these student cases, seventy-three percent attended school while infectious. There were eight school faculty members that
tested positive for COVID-19. Of these faculty cases, sixty-three percent attended school while infectious.

According to the Nevada State COVID-19 Dashboard, approximately fifty-three percent of Douglas County residents are fully vaccinated as of January 11, 2022. Carson City Health and Human Services continue to work with community stakeholders on vaccination outreach to increase vaccination rates among the community.
