Virginia Truckee Railroad Valentine Trains...two to choose from

Event Date:
February 10, 2024 (All day)

Looking for a unique way to treat your Valentine this year? Join the fun on the Virginia Truckee Railroad with two events on Saturday, February 10, and immerse yourself in solving a Murder Mystery with the Fun Time Players at 2:30 p.m. or choose the 4:30 p.m. Whiskey Tasting train. The Whiskey Train will be featuring the music of Northern Nevada’s own Carson Chandler and tastes of a unique locally distilled whiskey from Dovetail Distillery in Mound House, Nevada.

Murder Mystery fans will be presented with a mystery full of intrigue and plenty of drama (and a few laughs) as they travel through the historic Comstock Mining district to Gold Hill. This one-of-a-kind experience will transport you back to the golden age of trains and murder mysteries. As you settle into your seat, a world of mystery unfolds. A crime has been committed, and it's up to you to play detective. Engage with a colorful cast of characters, each with their motives and secrets, as you enjoy delicious appetizers and wine or beer. Chocolate-dipped strawberries and roses for the ladies and other treats will be served as passengers work to figure out the identity of the Villain. Prizes will be awarded for the best and worst guesses.

Carson Chandler, a 22-year-old up-and-coming country artist and Virginia City favorite, will be serenading passengers on the 4:30 p.m. train with music ranging from George Strait and Waylon Jennings to newer tunes from the likes of Cody Johnson and Josh Turner. Carson has built a strong genre of music that is sure to create a memorable experience for all music lovers. For an added bonus the Dove Tail Distillery, owned by Chef Nicholas Cataldo, will be presenting tastes of its small-batch Dove whiskey to riders. Cataldo describes the taste as “an upfront bit of spice with sharp grassy tones that are followed by a soft caramel finish.” The event includes roses for the ladies as well as other delicious appetizers. Beer and non-alcoholic beverages will be available on both trains.

No matter what you choose, your Valentine is sure to be impressed! Don’t wait too long to decide as these are sure to sell out.

Tickets are $56 per person and are available online at www.virginiatruckee.com Trains depart from the original 1870’s depot located at 166 F Street in Virginia City, Nevada.
