Mini Royal Treatment for area princesses to raise funds for Lake Tahoe Shining Stars

Event Date:
February 10, 2023 - 12:00pm

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE - Rah Beauty Bar located in Edgewood Tahoe, is throwing an event for the little princesses of the community. On Friday, February 10, 2023, princesses from ages 3 to 12 are invited to get the royal treatment. The little ones will also meet the real-life princesses from Ever After Productions. (Another event for pre-teens and teens will be coming soon)

From 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., those who sign up and pay the $50 donation will be treated like royalty. Of course. With an “up-top” and crown or a “mermaid” with a crown. Your little one will be able to pick her look from the carefully selected hairstyles to match your little queens. And now an added bonus a celebration cookie fit for a queen! Why?

Everyone who knows the owner of Rah, Angela Zajic, knows that she is a big Miss Marcia fan. In celebration of the City of South Lake Tahoe’s proclamation of Miss Marcia Day, she is announcing she is switching her event up to celebrate!

“I was so touched and so impressed by the City of South Lake Tahoe’s decision to honor Marcia on her birthday, January 20, 2023, her first heavenly birthday, since her passing," said Angie. "It really has been a traumatic event as someone very close to her, to watch the shock and pure disbelief unfold in shock and grief the past six months. I think that the Queen of Dance was never going to die. And not young. The respect that I saw this town give her, was chilling to the bone. Her birthday is what we in the grief business call our trigger, and that announcement from the City suddenly had my feeds and messages flooded with one thing, LOVE and LIGHT, and memories of a woman who cared more about the dream of little girls in Lake Tahoe to dance, than what was in her pocketbook."

"What an amazing monumental act that Mayor Creegan did (in the proclamation), and helped start the healing for a dance community that lost not only their leader," added Angela.

In honor of her close and dear friend, "second mom," and mentor, Angela, and her Rah Beauty Bar have added more stylists, and more help to the Mini Royal Treatment event and opened up more appointments. The original offering filled up very quickly. As they added more appointments, Edgewood Tahoe will also be adding some specials that we will be announced that week.

Marcia’s daughter Lisa, who lives in Las Vegas and works as a teacher and dance teacher, is continuing to keep her mother's legacy alive. Lisa has her mother's heart and spark, said Angela. The legacy of dance is carried through Lake Tahoe Shining Stars, a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to all and founded by Miss Marcia.

Ashley Kern-Smith has purchased Marcia's studio and pulled everything together with a grief-stricken dance community, taking over with grace, positivity, and a lot of hard work. Ashley was also a little Tahoe baby, with a dream to dance that Miss Marcia taught. In fact, she was right there watching Miss Marcia hold the Olympic Torch as she carried it through South Lake Tahoe many years ago. That torch is now passed on to Ashley and "The Studio." She is helping Lisa in fulfilling dance dreams through Lake Tahoe Shining Stars.

To honor and follow Miss Marcia Day, all proceeds from the princess day will go to keep Marcia's legacy alive.

Angie and Parker Alexander from Tahoe Heartbeat designed hats after Marcia's June 2022 passing. Angie wanted to make a hat that showed just Marcia’s name and a couple of stars because of the magic she created in Tahoe. People will love the Tahoe Heartbeat hats. Parker was one of miss Marcia’s shining stars so the hat has so many meanings to everyone. You can also order one on the Tahoe Heartbeat website or purchase at princess day. They were also sold at Marcia's service this past fall. Every penny from the sale of the hats also goes to children being given the gift of dance at Lake Tahoe, helping to keep the dreams alive for so many.

Life is so short, don’t forget to celebrate the queens in your life, says Angela. Stop by and see Rah Beauty Bar located inside Edgewood, her favorite Lake Tahoe Castle.

Those attending will park in valet at the Edgewood main lodge and follow the signs to the second-floor spa and check princesses in at the special table. The girls grab their crowns and wait to be escorted back by a princess.
