South Tahoe High Alpine Ski Team leading Tahoe Basin Ski League

The ski race season is in full swing for area high schools, with five races already completed. After Monday's slalom race at Heavenly Mountain Resort, South Tahoe High leads the Tahoe Basin Ski League with four girls and four boys in the top ten in their respective divisions.

Whittell High School's Payton Norton leads all boys in the league with his teammate Gunnar Barnwell currently in 10th place.

South Tahoe High's Tatum Whatford is in second place, followed by teammates Rose McDonough (3rd), Lyndsey Allen (5th) and Sierra Bedwell (8th). On the boys side, Alec Jobbins is in third, followed by Tristan Deatherage (4th), Luke Allen (7th) and Weston Swift (9th).

There are two regular season races left on the high schools' schedule, with State Finals on February 23/24. Next league action is at Diamond Peak on February 3, followed by a race on February 10 at Alpine Meadows.

The South Tahoe High Alpine Ski Team has a fundraiser on Friday with a showing of Warren Miller's Chasing Shadows at the school. For more details, visit their website HERE.
