OLYMPIC VILLAGE, Calif. - One man is dead after an officer-involved shooting today in Olympic Village on the north end of Lake Tahoe. At around 10 a.m., a California State Park peace officer attempted to stop a vehicle that had been involved in a carjacking in Tahoe City earlier in the morning.

That pursuit was terminated in a traffic collision near Olympic Valley Inn at Palisades Tahoe. The subject exited the vehicle armed with a knife. The officer shot the suspect just as a California Highway Patrol officer arrived at the scene.

The officers provided medical aid to the subject, but despite their efforts, the subject succumbed to his injuries.

State Parks is cooperating with Placer County Sheriff’s Office, the agency responsible for conducting the investigation.

That investigation is ongoing and no other details are available at this time.
