Douglas County School District still holding superintendent candidate meet and greet

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - Even with school closures due to snow, the Douglas County School District will still hold its candidate meet and greet for the two finalists for school superintendent.

On Monday, February 5 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., two finalists, Dennis Holmes and John Ramirez Jr., will be in the Douglas High School Commons to meet the public, and answer questions.

There was a total of nine candidates for the open position. Holmes received the highest point total from the screening process performed by the school board members, Ramirez the third highest. Dr. Darren Johnson, the person with the second highest points, was extended an invitation to attend the "meet and greet" but he had already accepted a position elsewhere.

The total points of all candidates as assigned based on hiring criteria, leadership experience, policy and compliance experience, letters of recommendation, human resources experience, and fiscal responsibility. The candidates and their points: Dennis Holmes-256, Darren Johnson-242, John Ramirez-197, Kenneth Goeken-190, Scott Daley-186, Howard Hughes-185, Jarrod Bardi-181, Kathy Bomba-Edgerten-171, and Donald Deavila-110.

On Tuesday, the board is scheduled to interview Holmes and Ramirez and they may select one of them to head the district at that time. (see story on candidates here)
