SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County officials will hold a public meeting detailing the current state of snow removal equipment used in South Lake Tahoe on Wednesday, February 12 at the California Conservation Corps, 1949 Apache Ave. It starts at 6:00 p.m.
Voters outside the city limits of South Lake Tahoe will be voting on a proposed tax measure on March 3. Voters will be deciding whether or not they want to pay $60 more a year via their property taxes to fund CSA3 (from Strawberry to Meeks Bay to South Lake Tahoe City Limits). Measure M, if passed, will supply an extra $540,000 annually for the sole purpose of buying and leasing snow removal equipment.
Supervisor V Sue Novasel and officials from the County Transportation Department will be hosting the meeting.
The snow removal equipment used by the County in South Lake Tahoe is aged and in ill-repair, some equipment is more than 40 years old. This leads to continual breakdown, removal of the equipment for repair and subsequent delays in clearing roadways for safe passage by travelers.
