Just 12 days ago the Sierra Snow Water Equivalent was 130 percent of average. Today, that number has fallen to 100 percent.
Temperatures have above normal all week, with clear and sunny skies contributing to a snowpack loss of four to six inches on average at the Lake Tahoe area snow sensor stations.
The chart in this story shows the water content of February 12 compared to both the average for the date, and how it measures when compared to April 1, the last measurement day of the year.
The Lake Tahoe area is at 74 percent of the yearly total, 100 percent of the February 12 average.
Rain and snow is in the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday next week, and a long range forecast of snow at the end of February/beginning of March.
