SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The community is invited to join South Lake Tahoe Mayor Cody Bass for a citywide candlelight vigil to honor the lives lost earlier this week and to support and comfort one another through this difficult time.

South Lake Tahoe residents Abraham Lemus, Adam Joy, Keely Pereira, and Douglas County, Nev. resident Clifford Joy all passed away. The first who found them did CPR, as did the first responders, and doses of Narcan were administered.

The vigil will be held at Lakeview Commons this Friday, February 16, starting at 5 p.m. Lakeview Commons is located at the corner of Lake Tahoe Blvd./Lakeview Ave.

On Monday morning, four lives were lost from an apparent fentanyl overdose in a home on Roger Avenue. See story here.

El Dorado County's South Lake Tahoe Behavioral Health clinic will be offering a grief and loss support group on Thursday, February 15 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. for drop-in support to the community. They are located at 1900 Lake Tahoe Blvd. South Lake Tahoe. This will be facilitated by a licensed clinician and aimed at helping people who are struggling with the events of the past week, and need general support, want to connect and process their feelings, and get information about grief and loss.

For individuals needing a brief individual intervention related to their emotional response to recent events, they can call the South Lake Tahoe Behavioral Health clinic directly at 530-573-7970 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. A clinical staff member will be scheduled to provide 1-3 therapeutic sessions related to the events of the past week and will help people navigate to supportive services through their health provider if needed.
