Hope Lutheran Church offers two events on Ash Wednesday

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Hope Lutheran Church invites the public to join them for a time of healing on Ash Wednesday, February 22.

Pastor Diana Turner will be in Stateline again with "Ashes to Go" from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., then services are at the church at 5:30 p.m.

Hope Lutheran is located at 930 Julie Lane, South Lake Tahoe.

Ash Wednesday is a solemn reminder of human mortality and the need for reconciliation with God and marks the beginning of the penitential Lenten season. It is commonly observed with and ash cross marking on observers' foreheads meant to represent mortality and penance for their sins. It is applied by a priest during a morning mass, often along with a small blessing: "Remember that you are dust and to dust you shall return."
