Kiwanis Club of Tahoe Sierra honors first responders with pizza delivery

The Kiwanis Club of Tahoe Sierra Foundation was asking themselves, “What can we do to ‘Thank’ the first responders of our community?”

The answer was a simple one. FOOD!!! The club members decided to first acknowledge local Firefighters who work every day to help save lives, help put out fires in and near our homes, and to make life better for ALL of us who live in the South Tahoe community. So, the club decided to honor the men and women of the South Lake Tahoe Fie Rescue and Lake Valley Fire Protection District.

They found out that each department has three shifts which each work for 48 hours, then pass the torch to the next shift. So, this past week, the Kiwanis club members purchased pizzas on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and delivered them to show appreciation to those who stand watch every day.

Club members said they are proud to be able to thank the firefighters for their service. They want to thank Grand Central Pizza for working with us and getting the pizzas up and ready for delivery each day.

The club will continue to show appreciation to other first responders in March and April in a similar way.
