Kudos: Bread & Broth thanks Lasagne Love and the Soroptimist of Tahoe Sierra club

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The 133 dinner guests at Bread & Broth (B&B) Monday Meal on Monday, February 12 were in for a real treat when they arrived at St. Theresa’s Grace Hall to enjoy a lasagna-themed dinner which members of the local Lasagna Love organization lovingly prepared. The lasagna received rave reviews from the dinner guests, and for those who were not meat eaters, were thrilled to have the option of enjoying vegetarian lasagna.

Lasagna Love, a grassroots volunteer organization, was founded during the pandemic to spread kindness by Lasagna Love volunteers cooking and delivering lasagna meals to individuals and families in their community. Under the leadership of Diane Weidinger, B&B’s Monday Meal Lead Cook, and a Lasagna Love volunteer, the Lasagna Love cooks outdid themselves in preparing a much-enjoyed evening meal.

B&B was fortunate to have the Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra (SITS) organization host the evening’s meal. As the Adopt A Day of Nourishment (AAD) sponsor for the evening, their $350 financial donation and sending four amazing and caring members to serve on the AAD crew, the SITS sponsorship made for a very successful dinner for all of the meal attendees.

Taking a break from helping on the serving line, Andrea Solis, a SITS’ AAD crew member shared her thoughts about her volunteering at the Monday Meal, “Amazing Experience! This was my first time volunteering for Bread & Broth, and I loved meeting the people in our community.”

Joining Andrea were SITS members Lisa Cali, Margie Kovarik Maxhimer, and Amy Simmons. Jean Prestella, a SITS member also volunteers with Lasagna Love and was part of the cooking crew preparing the evening’s lasagna
meal.

Soroptimist International is a service organization consisting of professional women who contribute their time and financial support to community-based projects that mainly benefit women and children around the world.

Through their fundraising efforts, primarily the club's annual silent auction, trip raffles, and the Mad Hatter Tea Party held on May 19 this year, the SITS organization funds grants, scholarships, and awards to women and youth in the community. B&B is thankful for their support in our efforts to provide free meals and food to families and individuals in the community.
