Temple Bat Yam’s Purim in the Powder returns

Event Date:
March 12, 2022 - 8:00am

Join Temple Bat Yam in celebrating the spring holiday of Purim with the comeback of “Purim in the Powder”. On Saturday, March 12, participants will be skiing and snowboarding at Heavenly in (optional) costumes. Since this is a fundraiser, participants are asked to get sponsors to pledge money for the number of runs they respectively make. The goal is 18 runs which equal over 4,000 vertical feet.

Afterward, there will be a BBQ at the temple with a chance to win any number of really impressive raffle prize packages valued from $175 to over $600. The entire community is welcome to join. Raffle tickets can be bought online on their website, and you do not need to be present to win. Information on the day’s schedule and a link to sponsor skiers and purchase raffle tickets are available at www.tbytahoe.org.

Temple Bat Yam wants to thank the amazing Lake Tahoe and Carson City/Reno businesses who have generously donated to the raffle prizes (to date):

A little insight on the Purim celebration: Purim dates back to the 5th century BCE when the Jewish people living in Persia were saved from extermination by the courage of a young Jewish woman named Esther. This spring festival is celebrated by reading the story of Esther (known as The Megillah), dressing in costume, and joyfully celebrating as a community.
