El Dorado County Civil Grand Jury seeks new members - informational meeting in South Lake Tahoe

Event Date:
March 27, 2024 - 6:00pm

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - A very important part of the government process, the Civil Grand Jury, is looking for new members. In June 2023, the El Dorado County Civil Grand Jury completed its investigative report of the county's building and planning department. The jury's actions are a result of complaints, concerns, and annual reviews, and the results are compiled in a report that is presented to the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors.

The Civil Grand Jury is comprised of volunteers, though very few residents at the lake have joined. It is comprised of 19 members who serve for one year, from July 1 through June 30 of the following year.

To learn more about how to make a difference as part of this, there is an informational meeting at the South Lake Tahoe Library on March 27 at 6 p.m. It is being put on by the California Grand Jurors’ Association - El Dorado County Chapter.

The function of the Civil Grand Jury is to investigate the operations of El Dorado County departments and agencies, city governments, school districts and special districts. The Jury determines which issues will be investigated during its term of office. For more information, visit https://www.edcgov.us/Government/GrandJury.
