Wind an issue at Lake Tahoe until warming trend settles in

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno has issued a High Wind Warning that will be in place until 5 p.m. Thursday. It will be followed by a Lake Wind Advisory from 5 p.m. Thursday to 5 p.m. Friday.

For the High Wind Warning, expect northeast winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts 40 to 50 mph for the Lake Tahoe Basin. Ridge wind gusts could be over 100 mph. Wave heights up to 5 feet on Lake Tahoe. For the Lake Wind Advisory, winds will be from the northeast 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph and wave heights of 1 to 3 feet.

Then comes the good news as dry and spring-like weather prevails into early next week when there are some daytime highs in the 50s. By Wednesday, models are starting to show indications of another system affecting the area, but in the meantime - enjoy!

Thursday - Sunny, with a high near 43. Northeast wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Thursday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 21. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Friday - Sunny, with a high near 48. East wind 10 to 15 mph.

Friday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 22. East wind 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday - Sunny, with a high near 52. Northeast wind around 5 mph.

Saturday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 24.

Sunday - Sunny, with a high near 56.

Sunday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 25.

Monday - Sunny, with a high near 55.

Monday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 28.

Tuesday - Sunny, with a high near 55.

Tuesday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 29.

Wednesday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 53.
