It is a mess along Highway 50 through the Sierra today due to spinouts and downed power lines. The road has been closed in both directions near Silver Fork as crews work on getting a power line off the roadway. Caltrans estimates reopening at 3:01 p.m. at this time.

Traffic was being held at both end of Echo Summit for avalanche control, also creating a sea of stopped cars through Meyers.

According to the California Highway Patrol in Placerville there is a five mile long backup through the canyon east of Silver Fork.

A driver is reporting a tree fell on their car east of the above incident.

Emergency crews are also working to assist drivers stuck near Twin Bridges and Camino. There are also multiple reports of tree fires near Pollock Pines due to trees falling on power lines. Those are all off of Highway 50 on area roads.

In South Lake Tahoe there is an incident of a car verses snowplow on Pioneer Trail and Marshall Trail. No injuries are reported to the occupant of the white Range Rover or plow driver.
