Huge Outpouring of Support for Ryan Wallace; Goal Almost Met

We told you about the story of South Lake Tahoe native Ryan Wallace three weeks ago. Wallace is the local wrestling coach in need of a new prosthetic leg and he needed to raise $25,000 towards a new one.

His story was filmed and fundraising efforts were started via a website called youcaring.com. Over $10,000 has been raised via the website and the grandfather of one of Ryan's wrestlers has put in another $10,000, leaving Ryan with just a couple of thousand more dollars needed to get the new leg.

"Our family feels very humbled by this process," Tami Wallace told South Tahoe Now. "This community is our home and has been so good to us. Duane and I especially are so thankful not to have to see our child crawling on his hands and knees around his home any longer (the wheelchair that I acquired for him doesn't fit in his house), plus the new prosthetic will allow his human foot the opportunity to finally heal."

Supporters are leaving words of encouragement on the youcaring website. So far, 89 people have donated including local employee groups and community members. "You are the wind beneath our wings," said one of those that donated. "Thank you for being a positive role model for our future leaders" said another. There are 30 days left for Wallace to reach his goal.
