Suspect arrested for attempted lewdness with a child, other charges in Douglas County

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - A 31-year-old Douglas County man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted lewdness with a child under 16 years of age, luring a child, using a child to produce pornography, and indecent or obscene exposure in the presence of a child.
On Wednesday, March 20, 2024, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) arrested Valeriu Monchamp of Gardnerville and he is currently in the Minden jail on a $225,649 bail hold.
According to DCSO, during the investigation, information was obtained indicating Monchamp was sending sexually obscene material to a minor and told the minor he had been sexually attracted to her for approximately two years. The messages Monchamp sent to the minor depicted evidence of child grooming, said DCSO.
