Kiwanis Club of Tahoe Sierra honors El Dorado County Sheriff's Office

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - As a continuation of their honoring first responders on the South Shore, the Kiwanis Club of Tahoe Sierra delivered lunch from Port Of Subs to the El Dorado County Sheriff's office in South Lake Tahoe.

Sheriff John D'Agostini was there to accept the treat from the Kiwanians led by Club President Kelly Meyer.

"We are so blessed to be where we are, and what we all do is a calling," said Sheriff D'Agostini. "This community support makes this calling easier. I can't thank you enough."

Club Treasurer Tom Millham said every once in a while, it is up to the citizens to help the cops, honoring those who patrol the streets and respond when needed.

"Thank you very much," said Lt. Bryan Brown after the substation team enjoyed the lunch. "The sandwiches were very good and I can speak for my office - we appreciate when the public recognizes the difficult and sometimes thankless job we do and you have reminded us that the public DOES appreciate the work we do. We are very lucky to live/work in a County that supports their law enforcement

Starting March 24 the service club stopped by with lunch for the California Highway Patrol and the South Lake Tahoe Police Department before wrapping up at the Sheriff's office. Working with Port of Subs and its owner Steve Miller, the club delivered sandwiches and chips for every person on duty.

"It is not a lot, but it was a gesture that the club wanted the three government policing agencies to know that our community appreciates the work they do and this was one way to show that appreciation," said Millham.

On April 18, 2021, the Kiwanis Club of Tahoe Sierra will celebrate their 20th anniversary of serving the South Tahoe community. Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time. The Tahoe Sierra Kiwanis club meets on the first and third Wednesday at 12 noon at Margaritas restaurant (the old Cantina on Highway 89). Currently, as with most service clubs, they are meeting via Zoom. Those interested in joining or working with the club can call Cheryl Millham at 530-573-2273.
