Sunny and warming start to the week in South Lake Tahoe, then time for another snowy system

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Drier conditions and increasing temperatures are expected to start the work week following this weekend`s precipitation. But it won't be long-lived as by midweek, another active weather system looks to impact the region bringing increased precipitation chances and cooler temperatures.

The weekly forecast for South Lake Tahoe from the National Weather Service in Reno:

Monday - Sunny, with a high near 45. East wind around 5 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon.

Monday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 27. North wind around 5 mph.

Tuesday - Sunny, with a high near 56. East wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the afternoon.

Tuesday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 30. Southwest wind around 5 mph.

Wednesday - Sunny, with a high near 53. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph.

Wednesday Night - A chance of rain showers before 2am, then a chance of rain and snow showers. Snow level 8200 feet lowering to 6500 feet after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 26. The chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch is possible.

Thursday - Snow showers likely, mainly after 11 am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 37.

Friday - Snow showers likely, mainly after 11 am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 32.
