Fundraiser set up for those out of work due to business closures in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - With a large number of South Lake Tahoe employees currently out of work due to closures mandated by the fight against the coronavirus, a South Lake Tahoe woman has set up a fundraiser to help those financially hurt the most.

Roberta Hainline, housekeeping manager with Vacasa, was concerned after she had to lay off her entire staff of 22.

"I know that all of those people that lost their jobs live paycheck to paycheck. Even though they are eligible for unemployment, the need is immediate," said Hainline, who was also furloughed.

"There are so many people that need our help. Let's rally this town together and help those who need us. I am hosting this fundraiser for anyone who lives in South Lake Tahoe that has a need. If you can, please contribute to this cause. 100 percent of donations will be distributed to those who need it for food or rent," said Hainline.

While she sent up the fundraiser on Facebook, people can contact her directly at (208) 720-5920 or by email at roberta.hainline@aol.com. To find the Facebook item, visit https://www.facebook.com/donate/558420144782495/.

Those needing funds or wanting to donate can also contact her via Facebook Messenger.

"I want to help those who need it," said Hainline. "I know that most people need help right now. That’s what I want to do, is help right now!"

Once the money is received Hainline will distribute it immediately. She said she is focusing on the hotel, motel and vacation home rental staff since 100 percent of them have lost their jobs.

"These people need our help now," added Hainline.
