One dead, one in critical condition after early morning shooting in South Lake Tahoe

9:25AM Update: The early morning shooting in South Lake Tahoe has left one man dead and another in the hospital with critical injuries.

Investigators are still at the scene but here is what we know so far:

At 1:00 a.m., several calls were received by the 911 dispatchers about shots fired in the Sierra Boulevard area. Officers responded and found one man with numerous gunshot wounds. He was transported and later died.

A second person was also found with gunshot wounds. He was transported to Barton where he is listed in critical, but stable condition according to South Lake Tahoe Police Lt. Travis Cabral.

Sierra Boulevard between Kubel Avenue and Alma Avenue is still closed and people are asked to find an alternate route.

The identities of the victims have not been released.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) is investigating an overnight shooting in the Tahoe Sierra neighborhood. Early Wednesday, April 7, SLTPD responded to Sierra Boulevard for the shooting with "multiple victims" according to its social media page.

At this time the road between Kubel Avenue and Rose Avenue is closed to through traffic for their investigation.

From early reports, one person is being treated at Barton Hospital and another has been transported to Reno via Careflight, both with gunshot wounds.

"At this time there is no threat to the community related to this incident," according to SLTPD.
