Conservancy set to demolish old South Lake Tahoe building and restore the land

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The California Tahoe Conservancy will be demolishing the old Tahoe Urgent Care building at the corner of Lake Tahoe Boulevard and 4th Street once acquisition of the property is complete. The .48-acre parcel sits on environmentally sensitive land that is subject to frequent flooding.

Once the transaction is complete the demolition and stabilization process will begin. Work will be completed in the 2021 building season.

During its September 2020 meeting the Conservancy board voted to spend up to $475,000 on the parcel. Funds for the purchase are coming from Proposition 68 funds and the estimated $125,000 to demolish and restore the property will be covered by budgeted land management program funds.

In 2015 the Conservancy purchased the adjacent lot, demolished the structure on it, and banked the development rights. It was also a parcel that experienced seasonal flooding.

The development rights from both the previous project and the planned on listed above will be banked by the Conservancy for future transfer to town center projects.
