Park City taps Tahoe official for transportation planning efforts

City Hall has tapped an official from the Lake Tahoe region to helm the municipal government's transportation planning efforts, selecting someone from one of Park City's mountain resort competitors for the position.

Alfred Knotts will leave the Tahoe Transportation District to become the transportation planning manager in Park City. He will succeed the retiring Kent Cashel. City Hall announced the hiring in a prepared statement.

Park City officials have stressed transportation planning in recent years amid worries about increasing traffic. The transportation planning manager holds a key role in the municipal government's long-range efforts to combat traffic.

A prepared statement from City Hall says Knotts will start on May 18. The statement says Knotts "will take the reins of the City's transportation planning efforts during what promises to be a transformational era in Park City history," pointing to the upcoming molding of Park City Mountain Resort and Canyons Resort into a single property and Park City's strong economy.
