Friday Night Live Month

In California, Friday Night Live is being acknowledged during the whole month of April. Specifically, April 24th is the designated date dedicated to the youth-run groups. During this month, youth that are in the groups are taking charge and getting their community involved.

Friday Night Live is a California high school program, promotes healthy and happy lifestyles for youth that involve leadership and problem-solving. Friday Night Live (FNL) has other programs including the middle school Club Live program, an elementary Friday Night Live kids club and FNL Mentoring. FNL focuses mainly on putting youth on the right track to living tobacco, alcohol, and other addictive substance-free lives.

In South Lake Tahoe, there are currently two chapters, a Club Live chapter at South Tahoe Middle School, and a Friday Night Live chapter residing at South Tahoe High School. The adult advisors that make it all possible are Julia Russell, who advises the Friday Night Live chapter; Larry Lambdin, Beth Aiton, and Laura Chappel advise the Club Live chapter.

These clubs help many students every day, teaching them to step out of their comfort zones and open up their eyes to new experiences. Friday Night Live is a huge part of many students’ lives in the community and we are proud to host such programs.

Both clubs are open to all students at the schools. Contact the advisors via email for more information. Larry Lambdin can be reached at llambdin@ltusd.org.
