Fitness Center at LTCC reopening to registered students, staff

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — The Fitness Education Center (FEC) inside the Physical Education Building at Lake Tahoe Community College reopens on Monday, May 3. While there will be some limitations in place due to COVID, it is now possible for students to register for Spring quarter FEC-related classes and use the facility once again beginning May 3. Permanent LTCC employees can also resume using the FEC
then.

Both students and employees must follow access protocols and mask wearing and other guidelines to enter and use the FEC safely. These can be found on the FEC’s website (www.ltcc.edu/fec). Hours for the FEC will be Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m., Saturdays 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., closed Sundays.

Students can check LTCC's online schedule (www.ltcc.edu/schedule) to see what FEC classes are available for Spring 2021. For some classes, all that’s needed to register is to fill out and submit a Non-Credit Enrollment Form (available at www.ltcc.edu/fec) and either email it to reger@ltcc.edu or submit it in person at the One-Stop Office in LTCC’s Main Building. They currently have limited, in-person
service hours of Mondays & Tuesdays 10am-3pm, and Wednesdays & Thursdays 1pm-6pm. To visit the One-Stop Office, enter the main library doors and check in with security staff.

Some of the FEC class options that can be registered for in spring include Health & Wellness for Older Adults, Cardiovascular Conditioning Levels 1 & 2, Weight Training 1 & 2, Post-Physical Therapy Conditioning 1 & 2, and Functional Training 1 & 2. With these and all FEC classes at LTCC, you can expect expert instruction and guidance in developing a comprehensive, individually tailored exercise program based on your goals, preferences, and capacity. All FEC courses provide complete access to all equipment during all hours of operation.

In an effort to ensure the safety and health of all FEC occupants, there are new policies and procedures in place. Please refer to LTCC’s guidelines on mask use and access protocols at www.ltcc.edu/fec for clear and complete directions. Here is a snapshot of what to expect when you arrive at the FEC:

• To enter, you will undergo a quick health screening using an easy application you download to your phone (CampusClear app: Apple | Android).
• All FEC occupants must observe social distancing guidelines.
• No more than 15 participants are allowed in the FEC at one time.
• Masks are required at all times while inside the PE Building and the FEC.
• Please bring your own mask with you. It should entirely cover both your mouth and nostrils, and can be fabric (washable), or paper (disposable). If needed, the FEC will provide you with a mask.

While Inside the FEC:
• Be courteous to others and allow for social distancing when using equipment.
• Wipe down equipment after use.
• Frequently use hand sanitizer.
• Personal spray bottles and towels will be provided to all occupants.

While the FEC was closed, LTCC’s team stayed busy prepping the facility and fine tuning practices to be as safe as possible upon your return. The entire FEC and PE Building have been deep cleaned and disinfected multiple times, and the FEC’s air filtration system has been evaluated and maintained.

Additionally, a commercial-grade HEPA filter was installed on the FEC floor to improve air quality and flow. Some equipment was also removed to help maintain safe distances between occupants.
