The California Tahoe Conservancy (CTC) is kicking off the firewood collection season with a free day at Van Sickle Bi-State Park in South Lake Tahoe on Monday, April 30 starting at 9:00 a.m.
This one-day only collection day will have 25-30 cords of firewood stacked and ready for pick up on a first come, fire served basis.
Every year the CTC offers two cords of word for personal use only through the Lake Tahoe Basin.
Permits are necessary and can be found on their website at http://tahoe.ca.gov and are valid through December 31, 2018. Also on the website you will find a map of potential firewood collection locations for dates after the April 30 kickoff.
The gate at Van Sickle will open at 9:00 a.m. If you plan to participate in the wood, download the permit prior to arrival: http://tahoe.ca.gov/fuelwood-permit/.
