SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - City Council will hold a budget workshop and har from their short-term economic recovery task force during their meeting on Tuesday, April 27 starting at 9:00 a.m.

The task force made up of two councilmembers and local leaders have identified the need for the following financial assistance in order to facilitate the immediate needs of our residents and businesses and to facilitate the re-opening of the city when that time comes.

They will be presenting to Council a need for $6,151,850:

Providing food for citizens in need of financial support - 2500 households per week for 3 months - $ 787,500

Business Resilience Fund
- Grant Funding for 200+ businesses - $1,000,000
- Loan Pool for 200+ businesses (low interest rates) - $4,000,000

City of SLT – Open for Business (Objective – Support businesses re-opening and opening, includes a micro-transit solution) - $ 364,350

While the financial implications could be significant in the short term, the task force is cautioning that if the business community does not rebound in a timely manner from this crisis, the impact on the city’s long term ability to provide services is considerably hindered.

Also on the agenda is a budget workshop including a presentation of the mid-year budget, Cal PERs obligations, and the Five-year Plan. Staff will also be talking about the 2020 road rehabilitation project.
