Have a flag to retire? A flag retirement ceremony to be held in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Lake Tahoe Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is teaming with the American Legion Post 795 and Boy Scout Troop 594 in conducting a Flag Retirement Ceremony on Flag Day, June 14. The ceremony will be held at the American Legion on Lake Tahoe Boulevard.

If you have a US flag that is worn and cannot be flown, please contact the Lake Tahoe Chapter, NSDAR Regent Rosemary Manning at rosemarymanning@gmail.com and the group can pick it up. You can also drop off the flag at the American Legion Post 795, 2748 Lake Tahoe Blvd.

The United States Flag Code, Title 4, Section 8k states, “the flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem of display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.”
