Two days, two intruders shot in Douglas County homes

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - For the second day in a row, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) has responded to a call of a person entering a home uninvited and being shot by a homeowner.

At approximately 5:55 a.m. on Tuesday, May 4, DCSO deputies responded to a report of trespassing and a man shot in a Topaz Ranch Estates home in Wellington, Nevada. The trespasser was pronounced deceased at 6:45 a.m. DCSO is currently investigating the incident in the 1500 block of Topaz Ranch Road.

Then on May 5 at approximately 4:02 a.m., DCSO responded to the area of Alicia Circle in Gardnerville for occupants reporting an unknown subject entered their residence without permission. The homeowner confronted the subject and discharged a firearm striking the subject once. The subject, who was later identified as Christian Gorham, was detained by the homeowner until DCSO arrived. Gorham was transported to Carson Valley Medical Center for his injuries and has been treated and released. Gorham was booked in the Minden Jail for Burglary.

At this time, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office does not believe the two incidents are related but both are currently under investigation.
