TOCCATA Tahoe benefit concert for Between Horses and Humans

Event Date:
June 9, 2022 - 7:00pm

Please note: Updated location!

The June 9 performance of TOCCATA-Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus will be a benefit concert for Between Horses and Humans. The show will be held at Trinity Lutheran, 1480 Douglas Ave, Gardnerville at 7 p.m.

Between Horses and Humans helps youth in South Lake Tahoe and Nevada’s rural counties who face many challenges to their mental and emotional health. The area’s severe shortage of mental health providers means that youth aren't always able to receive the mental and emotional support services they need.

They provide a welcoming, non-judgmental place for children and youth to set aside the labels and challenges of their everyday lives, and gives them a unique opportunity to connect with their own authentic, peaceful, competent selves, through the bonds they develop with horses. Horses do not respond well to negative emotions, so our students must learn to interact with the horses with calm assertiveness, compassion, and leadership. Thanks to the patience of our trained instructors and the horses, kids also learn how they can translate these skills into their relationships with other people in their lives.

The benefit performance will be conducted by Maestro James Rawie and features Saint Saens: Violin Concerto #3 with Alex Eisenberg, violinist, and
Beethoven: Symphony #6 Pastoral.

Alexander Eisenberg, violin, belongs to the famous Russian Violin School, which has produced a great number of extraordinary masters of this instrument. He began his studies in Odessa with his grandfather Michael Greenberg and then continued his studies at the Moscow Conservatory. While in Moscow Alex won numerous Soviet competitions. Alex has performed with orchestras and symphonies worldwide.
