Nominate a COVID-19 hero to win stay at Lake Tahoe vacation rental

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The owners of a vacation home on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe have created a contest to honor the front line employees who have worked so unselfishly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Claire and Charlie McArthur, owners of The Woodsy Tahoe Cabin, are offering a free six-night stay in October at their home that sleeps ten, has lake views from all levels, and is a 30-second walk to a private homeowners beach.

"We don’t need to tell you how difficult these past months have been, but the bright spot for us in all of this chaos caused by COVID-19 has been seeing the incredible strength, compassion, selflessness, and creativity that so many people have shown in supporting their communities. We want to do our part, however small, to show our appreciation for those efforts," said Claire on the contest notice.

Nominations will be accepted through Sunday, May 17.

Honor someone who has really stepped up during this crisis. Maybe it’s a doctor who has worked non-stop caring for patients while putting their own health at risk. It could be a friend who’s devoted their days to organizing a network to get elderly neighbors the supplies they need, or perhaps a grocery store clerk who takes extra care to clean carts and spread cheer to stressed shoppers.

To nominate someone, post a comment on the Woodsy Cabin Facebook page on their May 4 contest announcement (HERE) and tell then in detail how this individual (please give full name or tag directly) has risen up during this difficult time to help others. They know it’s going to be tough to choose as there are so many brave people working tirelessly right now, but from these stories, they will select the one that moves us most and give them free lodging in Tahoe.

A few conditions upfront:

*The stay is not transferable and must be used by the person nominated and chosen by us. However, the free-stay recipient can bring up to 9 family members or friends with them (for a total of 10 guests) and up to 2 dogs.

*We will be doing research to corroborate the story we choose, so please don’t embellish or fabricate the stories you tell about nominees. We want this stay to go to a truly deserving person and their loved ones!

*The stay is only redeemable during the month of October and is based upon current availability. If for COVID-19-related reasons this October is not doable, the stay will be pushed to next October.

*The stay is up to six nights, but if it only works for the recipient to come for less time, that is fine, too.

*The guests will still be required to put down a $500 refundable deposit, the same as we require of all guests, to cover any potential damage to the property.
