Kudos: Vail Resort’s EpicPromise grant supports Bread and Broth

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Every year Vail Resort provides funding through their EpicPromise Grant program to non-profit organizations in communities where their ski resorts are located. In addition to awarding funds for the Bread and Broth 4 Kids’ program, Bread & Broth (B&B) also received $3,600 for Heavenly Mountain Resort and Kirkwood Mountain Resort to share the hosting of 12 Adopt A Day of Nourishment (AAD) sponsorships throughout 2023. These AAD funds go to support the cost of the food, utilities, and supplies associated with serving a hot, full-course dinner served at B&B’s Monday Meal at St. Theresa’s Grace Hall.

For the month of May, Kirkwood Mountain Resort was the sponsor host for the Monday Meal Adopt A Day. On May 8th, Kirkwood team members Cara Bourne, Joshua Braafladt, Dan Deemer, Kyle Esssary, and David McCullers brought their cheerful energy and spirit of service to assist with the serving of the evening’s meal.

“What a great opportunity to help out our community. There were smiles all around and everyone was very thankful,” shared Kyle. The Kirkwood volunteers frequently express how much they enjoy the hands-on experience of serving others and many of the Kirkwood team members are repeat AAD volunteers throughout the year.

At their dinner, the Kirkwood AAD crew served baked salmon (donated by Whole Foods), green beans, mashed potatoes, salad, and a variety of desserts and drinks.

The quality of the meals and the kindness of the volunteer staff always provides a welcoming and congenial evening for B&B’s Monday Meal dinner guests.

Thank you to Vail’s EpicPromise grant program and to all of the Kirkwood team members who have generously volunteered at a B&B Monday Meal.
