SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Cyclists from across the country will help change the lives of blood cancer patients by gathering in Lake Tahoe on June 2, 2024, to participate in the 31st annual America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride.
Organizers want to remind the community of road closures to be aware of during the race which will be attracting over 2,000 riders.
The race has a new start and finish line for the race as they circle the lake in a clockwise direction. On Sunday, June 2, the Tour starts at the Tahoe Blue Event Center In Stateline, Nev. at 6 a.m. and finishes at the UNR 4H Camp in Stateline between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Bicyclists will ride clockwise around the Lake on Hwy 50 through South Lake Tahoe, then north on Emerald Bay Road. From 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. on June 2 on SR89, the northbound lanes will be closed from Baldwin Beach Road to the Vikingsholm parking lot. The southbound side of SR89 will remain open at all times.
Bicyclists will continue on the West Shore along SR89 to Tahoe City and will also ride Hwy 89 from Tahoe City to Truckee through the Mouse Hole and back and continue on Hwy 28 North Shore. They'll travel to the East Shore and down to US50, going through the Cave Rock tunnel to finish at the UNR 4H Camp.
New this year the right-hand lane of US50 from Spooner Summit to Kahle Drive will be closed to vehicles to allow a safe corridor for cyclists.
If your plans include traveling or commuting clockwise around Lake Tahoe on Sunday, June 2, please be aware of the closures. Share the roadway for the safety of all.
