Pine Needles for Pints on both north and south shores

If you haven't already bagged up your pine needles this spring, now you have a chance to earn a free or discounted beer. Perhaps you've been waiting for the rain to stop so you can start filling those garbage bag, a Lake Tahoe ritual.

Now you can participate in a social media campaign to quench your thirst when done.

To help protect our communities from the threat of wildfire the Tahoe Resource Conservation District in partnership with the Tahoe Network of Fire Adapted Communities, Alibi Ale Works - Brewery and Taproom, and Lake Tahoe Aleworx have been sponsoring a month-long incentive for residents to cleanup their pine needles in May. Working together with your neighbors to help create defensible space helps reduce your threat of wildfire.

Post a picture of yourself cleaning or bagging your pine needles in the month of May to Facebook or Instagram and tag Alibi Ale Works with #PineNeedles4Pints to receive a FREE pint of beer. Pine needles are highly combustible materials, and easily ignitable by embers. To reduce the chance of ignition, remove pine needles, pine cones, leaves, and other debris from your roof, gutters, and under decks. It is recommended that 0-5 feet (the non combustible zone) from your house is clear of debris. Vegetation within the 5-30 feet zone should be managed to be lean, clean, and green.
