Al Tahoe Firewise hosting community BBQ; Congressman Kiley speaking

This “all community” BBQ is made possible by a generous grant provided by the Marcella Foundation. The Foundation recognized the importance of "building a sense of community togetherness" to accomplish our fire mitigation goals through education and action.

Donations will be accepted for the BBQ. will help support the Al Tahoe Firewise efforts to improve the defensible space on properties in the future on properties of our disadvantaged community members.

There is a new endeavor Al Tahoe residents have incorporated another feature - solicit the names of community members who are elderly, disabled, have limited incomes, or veterans, in need of help. Several of these properties will be cleared of combustible debris by about 10 volunteers of the California Conservation Core at the district’s August 3rd “Yard Clean-up and Chipping Day" — hosted by the Al Tahoe Firewise District with chipping services provided by South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue

House of Representative Congressman Kevin Kiley has been invited to this event and will address the BBQ guests at 11:30 a.m. He has been a supporter of the health and well-being of the Lake Tahoe region through legislative actions he has sponsored or supported: H.R. 6861, the Supporting Affordable Fire Emergency Hardening through Optimized Mitigation Efforts (SAFE HOME) Act.
